After a coastal race on day three of the Copa del Rey Audi Mapfre, Swan 45s Swanderful, Earlybird and Rats on Fire are still out in front in the RI 1 class.
The 30 nautical mile course did not phase the Swan 45s at the front of the fleet who remained consistent with Swan 45 Swanderful coming 2nd, Swan 45 Earlybird following in 3rd, and Swan 45 Rats on Fire placing 4th. The competition between the Swan 45s is heating up with third place Rats on Fire only lying two points behind second place Earlybird.
Hendrick Brandis, owner of Swan 45 Earlybird commented:
“The week is great like always. Most predictable conditions you can have on the Med, every day is sunny, every day is windy… It’s just great! It’s professionally organised so we like it. The first day didn’t go well for us because we had new sails so we had to change all the set ups. But we’re improving and I think overall we’re lying in 2nd place. Another Swan 45 is leading so it’s interesting to see that the old design Swan 45’s are still dominating here. Last year we won under IRC and this year we are racing under RI and its going extremely well.”
The Copa del Rey Audi Mapfre is organised by the Real Club Nautico de Palma and the Real Federacion Espanola de Veia with the sponsorship of Audi and Mapfre, is the third event on the Swan 45 Class Mediterranean circuit.
